Christmas Lodge

My stamp club met for the first time on Sunday and this is one of the projects we made. This card was made with the Christmas Lodge stamp set from the holiday mini catalog. When I first looked through the mini catalog, I immediately wanted this stamp set because I thought the "Happy Holidays" stamp would look perfect stamped onto an envelope flap! I think I was right! I stamped the tree in Always Artichoke and used the thumping technique to add Early Espresso ink to the tree. It adds some visual interest to the tree. I also finally got to use my crochet trim - I bought it months ago but hadn't used it yet! I think it goes great with this card. I can't wait to see what else I can do with this set!

Tree Trimmings

Every Wednesday some of the women in my neighborhood get together and enjoy some wine and socialize. We call it 'Wine Wednesday'. Well, this week I am the host and I thought it would be fun to introduce my friends to stamping by having them stamp this card.

I used an old Clean and Simple challenge (CAS33) from Splitcoaststampers for my inspiration. I stamped the ornaments in Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Early Espresso on Very Vanilla cardstock and added a piece of Early Espresso cardstock as a mat. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me stamp the ornaments exactly where I wanted them. I sprayed Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz on the Cherry Cobbler cardstock to add some sparkle and then wrapped some silver cord around it. I hope my friends like it!

Christmas cards!

I've finally started making Christmas cards! I know it might seem early, but when you're making cards it's better to start early so you have plenty of time to finish them!

This card uses the Dasher stamp. I got my inspiration for the layout from a card on page 27 of the Holiday mini catalog. The card base is Old Olive with a piece of Old Olive DSP on the left. I stamped the reindeer in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White cardstock and added Dazzling Diamonds glitter to his antlers. I used my Big Shot and Top Note Die to cut a piece of Real Red cardstock. Then I added the Early Espresso taffeta ribbon to finish it off.

My card measures 3-1/2" x 5-1/2" and I'm sort of hung up on the fact that it's not the traditional A2 card size. I made another one (pictured below) with the A2 measurements, but I'm not sure I like it as much. Which one do you like better?

More rag quilts!

Here are pictures of two more quilts that I made and a link to the YouTube video I watched to learn how to make them. I didn't follow the instructions in the video exactly. The only thing I did different was that I cut the batting about an inch smaller than the flannel squares (I used 6" squares) and I didn't stitch the 1/2" seam around each square. I quilted each block with an 'x' and then stitched the blocks together with a 1/2" seam. It was much easier and worked just the same! Here are written instructions as well: Beverly's Basic Rag Quilt

My first rag quilt

Here is a picture of the first quilt I made. I made it for my newborn niece, Jodee. I've made five quilts over the last five weeks. This was my first time making a quilt and it was fairly easy. I bought my sewing machine about ten years ago, but this is easily the most action it has seen the entire time I've owned it. I even finished an entire spool of thread!
I bought a cutting mat and a rotary cutter to make cutting the fabric easier and I am so glad that I did. It saves a LOT of time!

Another Center Step card!

Here is another card using the Center Step card technique. This time I made it a horizontal card and used the Create a Cupcake stamp set. It is the traditional A2 size, with each side panel measuring 1" and the center panel measuring 3-1/2". Thanks for stopping by!

Up, Up & Away!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted anything! I'm such a slacker! I've been soooo busy - I started my last semester of school (Yay!), I went to Florida to be with my sister when she had her baby (what an amazing experience!), and I've been working on other crafts. I decided to make a rag quilt for my newborn niece after I watched a video on YouTube on how to make one. I will post more information and pictures about the quilt later this week.

This card is my first attempt at making a Center Step Card using the tutorial from Splitcoaststampers. I changed the dimensions just a bit because I wanted my card to be the traditional A2 card size. I started with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock and made my cuts so that the side panels were each 3/4" wide. The center panel measures 2-3/4".

I used Up, Up & Away - I adore this stamp set! It's really cute and can be used for several occasions. I also like this special fold - it's a nice variation of a traditional A2 card.

Another {Love} Card!

This card is similar to the one I posted on August 9th. It is not the traditional A2 card size. I wanted to fit the entire wheel "I {Love} Love" onto a card front, so I just made the card bigger. It is 9-1/4"x3-3/4", and fits into a standard #10 business size envelope.

Fox & Friends Baby Card

I have two cards to share today. I just got the Scallop Rectangle Clearlit for the Big Shot and I thought it would look so cute on a baby card. One of my favorite sets is Fox & Friends so I used it to make two baby cards - one for a girl and one for a boy. It seems that I have several friends (and my sister!) who are due in the near future, so I will make a few of these so they are ready to go.

I {Love} this wheel!

Welcome to my blog! I've wanted to start a blog for awhile now, but I couldn't come up with a clever name for it! I finally came up with a pretty good name (if I do say so myself!) and so now my challenge will be to spruce it up and try to post regularly!

This card was made with the jumbo wheel "I {Love} Love". I really like this wheel and decided to use markers to ink it up. I love how it turned out!
